And the defense was expecting it
And you're about to get tackled for like a 8 yard loss
Can you just throw away the ball pass the line of scrimmage for no loss?
If so, why don't they ever do it

It's probably not worth the risk to throw the ball when you are about to get tackled. Too much can go wrong. Also on sweeps, you have to kinda be patient and look for holes to open up so it's not so easy to instantly know this will be stopped for a loss.

first, shyt happens extremely fast. rb has to stop, grip the ball and actually toss it on the run.

second, like dude said if there are linemen past the line of scrimmage, you finna get ineligible receiver downfield penalty

its never really worth it. yeah you're getting pushed back but thats basically similar to a sack.

Like someone said already a sweep is a slow developing play

Running backs are always carrying the ball as if they are about to get their heads knocked off... By the time they see that no holes are opening up, there is no time for them to change the grip on the ball

Yes u can but most sweep plays are designed for running the ball and the wr's are running down the field trying to block and have their backs turned so if u bout to get sacked and it was a run sweep you have no one to throw it to. You mostly see the trick passing sweep plays in the college game, SDSU ran a double sweep one last week but the RB choked and over threw a potential wide open 50 yard TD.
