Yea the 2017 was smoke and mirrors on offense, defense was fun that year with the whole turnover chain going crazy and them basically being a feeding frenzy defense leading nation in turnovers..
This year was record setting offense with an NFL QB who was plug and play missing piece.. The tv contract/conference affiliation dynamics are different now so that changes everything. ESPN paid for SEC rights so teams like mizzou get ranked high even when blown out they stay ranked and it allows other teams to say they have ranked wins.. Beautiful finesse.. Like Lanning said just win
