The last big volcano eruption literally plunged the world into a mini ice age, causing both global and local famine . We have documented first hand accounts of both it's ash and vibrations being felt 2 continents away. Would have been more apocalyptic if it wasn't on an island. And Tambora wasn't even a super volcano just an extremely destructive one.
The power of belief

Does something tragic need to happen?Having made this thread 7 years ago: https://www.thecoli.com/threads/so-for-all-those-who-want-to-leave-the-us-one-day.644079/
I have definitely thought about a back up plan. I don't plan to leave unless something devastating happens, all out totalitarianism, or Black folks lose citizenship rights, etc.
I just am not sold on running to Europe. I know there are a lot of Blacks in Europe and I know Black folks from the US who have left for France, Portugal, Benelux countries and love their life. But I just don't feel the political center and economic stability can hold long term in Europe and running from one group of White folks to another seems more like treading water than progress.
I am looking closer at the Caribbean though it is expensive. I know enough Spanish and Portuguese to get by in South America too.
Personally , I think natural disasters are a legitimate reason to leave. We have one of the only 4 active super volcanoes on Earth right in the middle of our country . If Yellowstone goes off, that'll be the end of this country's story like pompei. It's reasonable to assume that an eruption of that magnitude is going to trigger California also. Might be a wrap for North America as a concept because the ash will blanket both Canada and Mexico. I don't think the East Coast cities could handle all the refugees.
We might be in a strange scenario where Hawaii and Alaska are the only two habitable States because of how far away they are from the mainland.![]()

I know you put Europe in the maybe category… but if usa fails/falls… so will many other countries too including Caribbean islands, Panama, Europe, even African nations… so much depends on the American dollar… and if it’s not America on top, then it’s China
For the safest bet, China might be the best back up if USA falls![]()
