For parents, what’s the difference between tough love and simply being a dikkhead?

Oftentimes I feel like the lines get blurred

My personal take is tough love = action with good intentions (ie: forcing your kid to get up early on weekends so they get into the habit of being early risers) while dikkheadness is unwarranted hostility with no real benefit to anybody except the parents ego

You are being a dikkhead when you can't accurately explain in 10 seconds why you are disciplining the child.
