Just recently for me. Sat down with both parents, they already knew it was coming though, but I did it out of tradition/respect. Didn't necessarily ask for permission, just told them the plan and asked for their blessing - cause either way, it was still going to happen, heh.

Asked her pops the day before I did it.... he said some of the nicest shyt anybody has ever said to me... had me like :to: when I got off the phone... but me and him are real cool and he had been dropping hints anyway

Yes I did...and he definitely gave me his approval and blessings...it meant alot to him that I asked...he died before we got married...still feel bad about that. Was a good dude and wanted to see his daughter get married.

I called him up. Asked him if we wanted to go get something to eat and told him the plan on asking for his daughters hand. He respects me and we get along so I knew he'd say yes. I even brought the ring and showed him. Only person who saw the ring before.
