Plants grow toward the sun, but also toward their inevitable death. Then they die and spread their dna forward, but it’s an illusionary immortality. The only difference with animals is that they fear death, so they wear a mask covering up their will to death with a will to life, but again, it’s only a facade.
Gas seeks to dissipate, liquid flows to a steady state to evaporate. Things move toward nothingness.
If we were immortal, there would only be one thing - god. The universe self-sacrifices for life to exist.
Just take solace in the fact that there’s only so many arrangements of atoms, so eventually quantum fluctuations will have you appear again, therefore you live on perpetually.
