Ok, spent some time poking around this morning, and here are my thoughts on the service itself.
First, the live streaming seems decent. I am at work, but even Netflix stutters sometimes here. I didn't have any stuttering while streaming ESPN for a couple hours. There is no pause feature or DVR that I could tell, but I can definitely see the benefit of having live TV again.
Second, the on-demand content seems to be incomplete. I found several shows that had only partial seasons, and not just the older episodes. Some were missing the latest episodes, one I found was even missing EP4 but EP 1-3 and 5-6 where there (why missing the middle one???). I am hoping this will change as they ramp up and roll out the service more.
Third, the "introductory plan" seemed to indicate that the $35 for the 3rd tier was locked in. At least that was the impression I got from the verbiage they used on the signup page. Most of everything I would personally want was in the first tier anyway, so if it does go up I would just cancel or roll back my tier.
Fourth, during signup I made a point to look for any info on streaming through AT&T cell network. I know I read it in the initial signup page, but I definitely didn't see any mention of it through the actual signup process. I personally have AT&T, but it's through my dad's account, so I wanted to make sure before I whore all our shared data that they are going to honor it.
Lastly, I absolutely could not find the app for the iPhone. I do not have my iPad with me, and my AppleTV is actually in a storage pod until end of December, so until the free one comes I have no way to check that device. I can check if there is an app for the iPad tonight when I get home. I searched the App store for "Directv Now", and all it found was the DirecTV app. I did download that one, but it would not accept my username/password, so I am guessing its the wrong app for streaming.
