Why do you do it? Me personally, I avoid viewing the bodies. I don't want that image being the last image of that person I have. I want to remember them as they were.
So, old, wrinkly and senile with Alzheimer's?
Or suffering from cancer?

I'm really not trying to be insensitive or a dikk, but remembering them how they were is relative.

In the end, you'll remember how they made you feel, not how they looked in a casket.
I think.

so the only people that die are old or have some sort of disease?

and how are you gonna tell somebody what they will remember?

your reply is ignorant.

It's actually proven that humans tend to remember how others make them feel, much more than they remember what was said or done.

But why you mad tho?

Even though I obviously don't like it (who does), I've always made sure to look- because it is the last time I'm seeing them.... spirit or not.

I have seen too many family members and friends in caskets. With that, my final request is that I not be put in one. Those closest to me know that.

Its more of a closure thing, seems unreal when you just saw that person a few days ago and now see em in a casket.

When my grandma died, it didn't feel real to me until I saw her :bryan::to: and its the only funeral I cried at:to:

I've only been to 3 funerals in my life and seeing a person you know lying there in a casket is weird as hell but it's certainly not the image I have in my head when I'm remembering them.

Unless you're specifically remembering their funeral or if they looked the same way at their funeral as they did in their last days then I have no idea why it would be anybody's first thought.

Going to what @Raul said, people generally tend to remember the times they had with people, good and bad. And that's even going to what you said about remembering them as they were.

As for your question, I have no idea why it's done but I guess it could be a closure thing.
