I'm from SW Houston so the gang culture is prevalent (by Houston standards). One time I when I was 15 was walking around West Oaks Mall and wearing a solid blue Yankee fitted. Some Southwest Cholos (my Houston people know) came up to me in the mall and asked me what claimed (back when the rollin 60s beefed with SWC). I told them nothing and one of them tried to knock my head out of my head, shoved them and the got all in my face. That is when Sheriffs starting walking towards us. They dispersed but a few of them did the whole pointing and shooting motion at me. I'll admit it was very shook. I just went to one of them departments and walked around for an 1 1/2 hours scared out of my mind.
I got more stories but they involved friends or people I knew getting beaten up or getting shot. Alief back in the day was pretty wild.
My cousin got in a fight a few weeks later with SWC but he was a black belt in karate so he gave them the business but they still manage to jump him and beat'em up pretty bad.

Back in 1999 when I lived in the jungles it was my first time walking around the neighborhood. We used to have food trucks coming thru and you could get a chips for a .25. During this time it was a street named coilseum was hot & infested with stones( black P stones bloods) but I didn't realize it wasn't safe. I walked toward the truck & across the street there were 4-5 bloods and they were given me some

I was 12 at this time and they had to be around they late teens to 20's, The dude who asked for a quarter is standing their with a grin on his face.
He thought I had more money but when didn't he reached under his shirt and said I had 10 seconds to run before he start "dumping" I never ran so fast in my life to my block. After that incident I avoid coliseum for a a couple of months till the feds came & raided their block then it was peaceful
The jungles was hot back in the early to late 90's and even the mid 2000's. The stones had a another raid back in 2011; they were selling crack out of a cell phone store. The cell phone store was raggedy as fukk; it looked like they were doing some illegal shyt.

I miss when the south was dirty.
It was one time in highschool me and my boys had to get from the bronx to coney island and we ran into mad dudes who wanted to fight us!! Some guys with baseball bats and face pain and some cheesy soft dudes that claimed a set that goes by "The Orphans"

Why arent gangs providing protection to make sure black kids are able to excel in their studies instead of indoctrinating them into a culture of failure. By the time they wake up and try to guide the youth to the right path all the new recruits are looking at them like fukk outta here.

I'd just say I am on my way to/from school and keep it pushing. Never was a problem.
But back then gangs in LA were fairly organized... I mean, as about as organized as a frat at least... so there were rules.
fukking with certain people would get you a "violation" and the gang itself would discipline its members to put them back in good standing.
So, kids/teens not flagging (going to school/work or otherwise unaffiliated), old people, church people, religious people of all types... these folks all got passes, as a whole.
I'd just say I am on my way to/from school and keep it pushing. Never was a problem.
