most people think that Jay vs Nas is the most legnedary rivalry or w/e, that htese two are like polar opposites.
But the real cosmic battle has always been between 50 and Jay-Z.es.
50 is the guy Jay-z is always thinking about.
The difference is that there battles will always be lowkey.
These two do not mix AT ALL.
They're literally on polar opposites.
I'll update this thread later with all the examples and indepth explanation.
1st Update: Introduction/Backgrounds Part 1
-First I want to introuduce the background of both of these guys so we can see waht were dealing with more clearly.
-I want to compare and conrase their early life, and rise to fame.
-50 grew up in queens, mostly living in the basement (this is important, there's a reason they even showed this on 'get rich or die trying the movie') while Jay Z grew up in Brooklyn in the projects
A lot of this you'll porobably know, but i'm laying the foundation for the whole thread.
50 grew up in a packed house with his uncles and aunts, being raised by his grandparents.
Jay Z grew up projects (naturally not a lot of space either) he had older silings as well
50 never knew his dad and his mom died young, his grandparents aren't bad or anything, but they have a packed house and their own problems to deal with. Generally meaning that 50 could mostly do what he wanted. 50 hints that he had problems with his older siblings ("pistol whipped that nikka til his face was purple" , get rich movie, etc)
Jay knew his dad but he left, and his mom raised him. She wasn't a bad mom, but still they were living in the projects. Jay Z also had to deal with his siblings as well (famous story of shooting his brother)
I bring their early lives up because i believe it shows that both men were raised in such a way taht everything they learned, they taught themselves. Everything they knew about the world, was discovered on their own.
Another thing i want to note is that both Jay Z and 50 Blew up relatively late in the rap game.
50 had some early success with 'how to rob' , but quickly lost it after getting shot. 50 cent was 27 when 'Get Rich or Die Trying' was released, and Jay-Z was 26 when Reasonable Doubt released.
This isn't that late, but for some perspective both Biggie and 2Pac had died by this age, someone like Drake was about to turn 27 when NWTS dropped.
I say this because i belive it shows the hard path they both had getting into the rap game. It didn't come quick and easy for them by any means. and at the same time they had to survive for all these years before blowing up.
