As someone who had their hoop dreams deflate let me tell you it's not easy. I'm just fortunate enough to have gotten a degree out of it but I was down bad initially, DEPRESSED. You're no longer a [fill in the blank] player anymore. What are you? Don't want to be around family and friends anymore because you think in the back of everyone's mind you're a failure, don't want to be spotted out anywhere near your hometown. I couldn't even watch sports for a while.

But on a lighter note, nobody is kissing your ass anymore or giving you things. I never had a real job so when I had my first 9-5 day I seriously thought I was going to die :dead:

First off.. those family members and so called friends isn’t shyt and u should distance yourself from both…just imagine u made the league and had money and all of sudden a career ending injury happened, those same people will disappear as well

Secondly thats life… theres not a lot of openings in football, basketball and baseball and only a handful will make it… at the same time u should always prepare for the what if’s

However TV/Radio and social media dont show u that side of if u dont make it and we as black people love to crack jokes about so and so was a one hit wonder or a failure because they didnt make it, but like I always say at least you had the opportunity but hopefully your 9-5 brings u some peace or at least you don’t have to beg people
This is why I wanna teach retired professional athletes art. Be a good self therapy hobby if they actually take to it

Clearly you’ve never played basketball with serious hoopers haha. Mind you, I was 6’2 leaving high school.
I love when you internet dudes don't know what "clearly" means. I played college ball, but that doesn't matter in this conversation.
Again, 6"4' isn't short

It’s more people constantly asking why you aren’t professional. To most people they see someone my size and think that you should be in the league. You try to explain that the difference between me and you is the difference between me and an NFL player. They look at you like you just lazy. Nah MF Jeff Saturday would’ve used me to clean his teeth :mjlol:
