odd.. online, home based learning is the next step for public education

I think online home based education in inner city or rural communities would actually hurt. These kids need interaction, guidance and a safe and engaging learning environment. Online home education would hurt these students more than help.

There's a happy medium where there are small community based home schooling co-ops. These kids either study together or have recess/play dates together. There are also faith-based homeschooling pods. Homeschooling has come a long way from the days of a loner kid being locked in the house with his mom, lol.

You really missed out if you did, and that thinking is part of the problem. I also just gave $500 to the GoFundMe but carry on.
I didn't miss out shyt.

I'm sure you could apply that point to so many things...but there are things I've learned that are specific to Baltimore that require:

1. Town Halls
2. Talks on how Redlining was invented in Baltimore and shaped the city. Re-investment in homes were and still are impossible as banks don't give Baltimore homeowners in that area loans
3. Property value determines how much a school gets.

So this "we need to care for our kids" emotional argument you posted holds no weight. I'm just tired of these "catch all" to show how smart I am bully pulpits heads get on rather than being specific to the unique concerns a city like Baltimore deserves.

Read my ex findings about the city.

Hey man, I'm on your side. My post was in no way meant to be a "catch all" or a "bully pulpit". I'm just as frustrated as you. True I don't know the in's and outs of Baltimore, but I know the in's and outs of the public school system, I know the in's and outs of poverty and hopelessness. I'll definitely read the article and I appreciate you providing that, but please man, don't be dismissive because you think you've heard it all before cuz that ain't gonna solve nothing either.

I thank you for sharing your post with us, it's because of you that I saw the GoFundMe link and contributed. Peace.

Come on dog. If there's a black problem, you could apply your posts.

You don't know the ins and outs of Baltimore public school system, or its unique poverty. Baltimore has conditions worse than in Nigeria and India. That's arrogant as hell to say you know that already. Learn about it.

I just finished the article, thanks again for that. Reading up on the Equity in Planning Committee too. That's HUGE and I hope they're able to make some headway. Giving definition to what they feel "equity" is is a pretty important component and I have no doubt that there's gonna be tons of resistance to that, if there isn't already.

Much of this is a byproduct of the town halls you said they didn't need. Won't lie...that turned me off....

Wow

So first, I thought you didn't make it that far into the post? Secondly, here's what I said "I know everybody ain't able, but valuing your child's education isn't enough, you need community, and by community I don't mean a bunch of people at the town hall with a list of problems. I mean people that work towards solutions, and that starts with taxpaying, home-owning citizens that put their money where their mouths are." Never said town halls weren't important, they just can't be dominated by people who don't have a financial (tax) stake in the impending solution. My apologies, I guess I could've worded things differently. Again, I'm not looking to fight with you and my sincerest apologies if there was any offense taken. Hopefully we meet again in future threads where the mood isn't soured by personification.
