A Bleacherreport article from December 25, 2009 said the same thing:

Switching LeBron with Kobe would be disastrous for the Lakers precisely because LeBron is so statistically dominant.

LeBron won't be averaging seven assists with the Lakers. It is an equal opportunity offense. Everyone is a threat. The Lakers would be much worse if they relied on LeBron setting people up as their offensive scheme. The Lakers have great passers throughout the roster and having one guy control the offense makes it too predictable to work.

LeBron wouldn't average seven rebounds on the Lakers. Gasol is a better player when he boards. Bynum is a better player when he boards. Odom is a better player when he boards. Basketball is about letting each person contribute to their strengths.

Kobe understands that his team is stronger when he doesn't do it all. Players feel a greater sense of ownership in the game when they are contributing and when they feel they can have substantial influence on the outcome of the game.

LeBron wouldn't be No. 1 in player efficiency rating on the Lakers because championship players understand that they must allow others to produce and allow others to make their mark on each game.

I agree 100% with your post but I don't fully agree with Chris. I think he wouldn't have won more rings with this Cavs team without being who he is, but in Miami he could've went 4-0 if he wasn't so controlling, because they had well rounded teams.

The point on Kobe is SPOT on, that's why stats don't always tell the story when comparing players. There is something called...SYSTEMS! Teams have systems and depending what system you're in, dictates your output. If Kobe would've had freedom, his numbers would be astronomical but his ring count would be down.

This is a no brainer. Specialization is key to proper cooperation. It's like comparative advantage in economics. LeBron can do so much at times that it actually is a detriment:yeshrug:. A lot of nikkas on LeBron led teams either are confused about their role or have a limited role as it relates to their skill sets

Kobe did have "freedom" - his ring count is IN SPITE of that. lol

This article in the OP sounds like Kobe was some ball-sharing facilitator, perhaps even moreso than LeBron,
and we KNOW that ain't true.

The Cavs half court offense is essentially either a 4 out high PNR for Bron up top or a Kyrie ISO. That's 95% of what they run. There's nothing for Bron off the ball because this nicca has refused to move without the ball for years. It's the reason Wade decided to change his game after 2010 because they both couldn't have the ball.

I don't think it's about Bron picking a role as much as it is him humbling himself and buying in to some kind of system.
