Steve Doocy tried to one-up co-host Brian Kilmeade with tasteless jests, saying that 'the message is, when you're in an elevator, there's a camera.' The comments came Monday morning after video of the violent beating was released.

A “Fox & Friends” segment Monday morning on the video of running back Ray Rice knocking unconscious his then-fiancée inside a casino elevator took a bizarre twist when the hosts made light of the incident with a series of tasteless jokes.

After reading serious tweets and emails sent from viewers, the Fox News hosts, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, segued into other celebrity-involved incidents of domestic violence. The men condemned both Rice’s now-wife, Janay Palmer, and singer Rihanna for “sending a terrible message” by staying with men who had abused them.

And the men, sitting on either side of co-host Anna Kooiman, then discussed the Solange and Jay Z incident also caught on camera in an elevator.

“I think the message is, take the stairs,” Kilmeade jokes as Kooiman lets out an uncomfortable chuckle.

Rather than chide his co-host for making light of the incident, Doocy decides to one-up his colleague.

“The message is, when you’re in an elevator, there’s a camera,” he says, as Kilmeade agrees with a “yeah.”

Doocy, without missing a beat, then segues into the morning’s show’s next segment: “And there’s a camera right now on Heath Nauert, who’s got the headlines,” he says.

Unbelievable.

Brian Kilmeade: "Women who don't break up with their partner after a domestic violence incident send a terrible message."

Brian Kilmeade (continuing): "I think the message is, take the stairs."

Steve Doocey: "The message is, when you're in an elevator, there's a camera."

If you want a crash course on ignorance and maintaining a hateful agenda, then you need to watch this clip carefully and take notes.

  • Starts by clearly establishing that viewers must know the outrage lies squarely with the woman, and her decision in marrying her assailant as noted by the disapproving expressions geared towards her and not the actual assault. We know who the real villain is within the first 20 seconds.
  • Move to race baiting by making negative comparisons with well-known acts of dysfunctional behavior by black couples who are on the Fox disapproval list. Mock the ethnic name of a black woman to again reinforce negative racial stratification with their stupid audience. Again...no disapproval directed towards the actual physical violence.
  • Follow with the purpose of the segment, which is to turn the disturbing violence featured, all into one big punchline in an effort to dehumanize the specific parties involved ( no coincidence all are black). Imagine them making light of the injuries of say a George Zimmerman, or how outraged they would be if a left wing org mocked the serious injuries of a Fox approved figure in order to correctly frame how outside the bounds these idiots traveled to accomplish their objectives.

Several....top of the list is diminishing the lives of black people. The subtext here was "look at these stupid violent wild nakkers --- lets laugh at them!"
ultimately though, it has to be about capturing the commercial watching attention of their racist base right?
I am having a hard time wrapping my head around a group of people with access to that much information being genuinely that stupid
I can believe the financial incentive though
