He went through this in the 80s. Went bankruupt and had to sell his production company, house and become a director for hire. Made his money back through his wine company but he had to sell a stake in that to make Megalopolis. Regardless, it's reckless, Coppola is talented but comes across as a guy with nobody in his life who can say no to him so he ends up taking silly risks. That script needed way more work and could have been budgeted better. If he had been willing to compromise even a little bit a studio could of got behind him and given this film a chance.
