She's got hits and a niche, though. Despite being garbage she still sold songs to Britney Spears. I'm a huge Frank Ocean fan and he might be my favorite but it's hard to flat out say he's the best songwriter. Even if he is more versatile than Usher, it's still hard to say that he's clearly a better song writer than someone like Lady Gaga or Jack White.

Although, the fact that I can compare him to such a wide range of artists is very impressive.

Saying the weeknd is carried by production REALLY shows you're ill equipped to be making a thread like this. His first 3 tapes have some of the more nuanced, haunting writing I've heard from sung black music I'm quite awhile.
