wonder what made it resonate more with pop stations than black stations…to be honest tho, I never really felt the track like that

It was catchy, simple, mildly edgy yet safe. It was perfect for pop stations. It fits in the sweet spot for songs that can make you actively think about what’s being said, and songs that some people just passively like in the background while they party.

Not too extreme that the more affluent hs and college students can’t relate and try to use it to try to give themselves an edge. Authentic enough that less affluent students can vibe to it too.

Add how much the sheltered hoes loved everything I said in the first sentence, and you got a pop hit on your hands.

SDE is easily his best album. front to back is flawless. the hunger on that was real. it was also the most street album he dropped.

:unimpressed:

No it is not.

Cam was off-key most of the sde album. Plus lacked cohesion in key areas that make it a chore as a lp. Especially as a gateway for a noob listener.
It has good lore from banned pr imagery and marketing and cam's audio origin story so to speak. It is nowhere near his beet lp.

The run of bsides to lp and mixtapes from purple haze to pe is cam's best body of active major label loan work .
His best gateway lp is killaseason and the best lp in his discography is purple haze.
