Drake actually employs A LOT of lowkey literary devices(anaphora, antithetics, syncrisis)... and his use of melody in his verses keeps listeners interested.

Think about the most successful rappers that "started" the last 10 or so years. Nelly & 50 used alot of melody

and you have to factor in the a lot of people arent that smart, so why would you lose potential listeners?

That being the case, he still manages to be clever enough.
