If you want to say Cole is a better rapper, sure go right ahead, but on production alone, Cole doesn’t have a single album close to probably any Gibbs project. Production has been Cole’s weakness, especially given that the best beats he produces himself are for other people.
I been a Gibbs listener since like ‘08 and while he has a very good discography with a couple of classics sprinkled in, I can’t put him in that discussion.

It’s not only due to the lack of mainstream success but he didn’t have alot of cultural impact either.

It’s not that he ain’t marketable enough..I mean Pac and DMX two black bald hardcore/gangster rappers were very successful but Gibbs didn’t have the personality or the charisma at the beginning stages to be a rap star.

It’s not until later on in his career that he started to open up and be a character but unfortunately he ruined his image with all the shenanigans, fukkery and controversy that took the light off of him being an incredible talent.

I still maintain that Gibbs ain’t been the same since coming out of prison. After he’s released he dumps his girl that was loyal and goes on a fukking spree impregnating porn stars and hookers, getting into a beef with Benny and losing physically, the ridiculous trolling and attention seeeking etc. It’s been a downward spiral ever since but I will still press play on a Freddie Gibbs song or album because that mutafukka is dope on that microphone. :wow:

ScHoolboy Q has multiple times sales, more classics, more hits, better and authentic content, more clout, more endorsements, more cosigns, actually loves his family, and even a grammy nom to boot

Tldr: fukk a big 3, it's just TDE

Freddie got a few good albums, but nah. He will never be a factor like that, it is what it is :yeshrug:

Gibbs got most people on production but RAP lyrics is where Gibbs is weird cause he hits a ceiling really fast but he has an amazing flow.

its like the inverse skillset you see from most artists. If Gibbs could express himself better he’d be an elite artist.

Mainstream appeal with "good music" is a prerequisite. I never really thought Cole had enough of either to be on the same tiwr as Kendrick and Drake. Regardless, when someone says big 3 it was definitely those guys and regardless of how much a fan are of Freddie there's a reason it's a big three and not a big four with freddie being the fourth. He might not even be the first person named when considering a fourth name.

Gibbs ain’t got a song:
  • that bumps at the BBQ
  • that hoes know
  • that made a dent in the charts
  • etc, etc
I’ve been fukking with dudes music since Str8 Killa, but he does not belong in any big 3 conversations. It’s mad artists ahead of him in any of those types of discussions.

If you're only going by album quality, he clears Cole and Drake EASILY to me.
And it's just as simple as that. Idk what these clowns in the thread talking about his high school GPA and shyt. Consistent, solid bodies of work. That's it.
