I used this to drop my phone bill. I didn't get the phone service though. I use the free 500MB device to make wifi/voip calls with talkatone.

I used to have unlimited data with VZW but once I had to give that up, $100 just wasn't worth it to me for only 2GB. Especially since I started monitoring my data and was only averaging about half a gig after downgrading (I was averaging 40 gigs a month while I was unlimited). I have wifi at the house, office and most other places I go. I use the 500MB to make/take calls when I can't get another wifi signal. 500MB is about 1000 minutes of voip talk time. Coupled with all other hot spots, that's more than enough. Tossed VZW in the bushes.

Beware their hidden costs though. They automatically opt you in to a lot of BS so you have to manually change those settings.
