Other fan bases call out their stars when they actually play bad. That’s not the case here. The Lakers’ role players weren’t just bad. They were straight up unplayable. Nobody’s acting like LeBron or Luka are perfect, but let’s be real. You can’t win in the NBA when half of your rotation wouldn’t even get minutes on another playoff team. That kind of roster forces your stars to do everything, so by the fourth quarter, they’re running on empty.
We saw the same thing happen with Kobe between 04 and 07. He had no help, was carrying the team the whole game, and had nothing left to close. Then in 08, when he finally got a decent squad, people started acting like he suddenly got better. Nah, he just didn’t have to do it all by himself anymore, so he could actually finish games and lock in defensively.
You can’t seriously put this on LeBron because Gabe Vincent can’t hit a shot, is undersized and nonathletic or because Vando is a black hole on offense and has the worst hands we’ve seen since Kwame Brown. Holding players accountable is one thing, scapegoating is another. Some of y’all don’t seem to know the difference.
I’ve been calling out the front office for bad roster construction since the Kobe and Shaq days. But instead of having that real convo, you'd rather troll and deflect.
