Do the producers of movies matter when you pick what movie to see vs. directors/actors?

never understood that myself aka "from the guys who invested in" ... ya never hear that in any other business
Of course they do. Their the ones who choose the scripts, buy rewrites and hire the talent. Also find distribution.
A-List directors will usually be asked for their input. The bigger the director the more the producers let go control.
But in the end the producers are providing the money and they are the ones who are responsible with that money and making money for themselves, the stufioss and any investors. It's in their best interest to make a good movie.
Also, usually if a movie is bragging out their producers it means that the movie is in serious trouble. It's desperate.
