So is the rumor that the main reason Sony is pushing so hard against the sale is because Xbox wont guarantee COD will be on PS plus as well as retail which would give gamepass parity real? Everything else i've read seems to show that the MS folks are cool with allowing the game to continue on the system at retail. Also, What's stopping them from just saying sure and just make a new modern fps franchise not named Call of Duty?
Sony said Call of Dookie is not replicable

This deal isn’t being scrutinized just because of Sony

The issue is they're saying this, all while refusing to provide any legal remedies to regulators. This is why we entered phase 2 of this investigation recently. The fact that MS refuses to put this in writing for regulators, means MS is planning to make the game exclusive at a certain point. Likely when they pass a certain threshold for the amount of COD players that migrate over to Xbox from PS.

I think us gamers just need to say "who the hell knows" when discussing this.
This x10

All this is is a bunch of people who have no idea how any of this works hanging on to every little piece of info and trying to speculate what it means.

All of this is usually behind the scenes and nobody cares till it’s done. This is business as usual for all parties involved.

Console wars just makes people act stupid about this stuff. :smh:

That one little line in a story about sony flying in to fight it?

Nah breh. We’ve seen the court documents from google, they are generally ok with the deal. Their only “concerns” have to do with cloud stuff.

Sony is the only one fighting over COD.

I didn’t mention cloud though. I said this deal isn’t only being scrutinized because of sony, those factors also play a part.

By the EU and CMAs own words COD is the main point of contention. They even mention sony by name as far as their investigation goes.

Only the FTC has talked about cloud stuff.

Thats not true. One of the main points of contention for the CMA was cloud gaming, which is why google got involved.

There is a realistic prospect of a substantial lessening of competition in gaming consoles, multi-game subscription services, and cloud gaming services,” the firm said in an extensive document. The CMA believes that the acquisition of exclusives like Call of Duty and other potential exclusivity on Xbox will create a sizeable network effect on Microsoft’s platform. A network effect is where a console with a lot of gamers attracts more content, which in turn attracts more gamers.

“The CMA is concerned that having full control over this powerful catalogue, especially in light of Microsoft’s already strong position in gaming consoles, operating systems, and cloud infrastructure, could result in Microsoft harming consumers by impairing Sony’s – Microsoft’s closest gaming rival – ability to compete as well as that of other existing rivals and potential new entrants who could otherwise bring healthy competition through innovative multi-game subscriptions and cloud gaming services.”

Literally sony by name and no other competitor even mentioned.

It’s safe to say the majority of the scrutiny around the merger has been to protect sonys competitiveness or more directly to keep their access to COD.
