As clear in his on-air programs, tweets, and even our last interview, Funkmaster Flex has no problem speaking his mind. So, while talking to REVOLT at a special Sean John event for DJ Mustard last weekend, it was clear that the radio vet and digital aficionado wasn’t going to walk away without expressing his mind. Only this time, that spiel was nothing but sheer excitement over one of his favorite new artists: Troy Ave.
As the latter shut down New York City last night (November 21) with a special homecoming concert at Highline Ballroom, Flex told REVOLT that all eyes (and ears) should be paying attention to the Brooklyn rapper’s next single. “Troy Ave has a single that nobody heard, that’s like ‘In the Club’ 50 Cent, remember I said that,” Flex casually announced. Though he couldn’t reveal the title, Flex revealed that fans will have to wait until New Year’s Eve to hear the record, he describes as something “special to me.”
“I told him that I’m going to launch it on New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m. [EST].”
With his BSB mixtape series flooding the streets, New York City: The Album still picking up praise a year after its release, and T.I. issuing him a Hustle Gang stamp of approval, it looks as though Troy Ave will have some big things in store for 2015.
