After today’s announcement that Sony now has the exclusive rights to Call of Duty (CoD), the Xbox CoD community is literally up in arms protesting about this marketing decision.

Xbox has had the exclusive rights for quite some time now, hence the reason that the entire competitive CoD scene is focused around Xbox.

Trending on all social media right now is the hash tag #XboxOrWeRiot

It’s a very clear message, gamers from all levels, whether it is amateur or MLG level are not impressed. These gamers have sunk hundreds of dollars into ensuring they have the top of the line equipment to play CoD on the Xbox competitively knowing that this is the console that will always have the upper hand as far as DLC goes…………… well at least it used to be.

Why did Microsoft Studios let it go? We can only imagine.

Why did Sony spend all their pocket money on a one month timed DLC exclusive? We can only guess.

What we do know is the Xbox CoD community is utterly unimpressed!

Oh did I mention that a petition has already been started: #XboxOrWeRiot Petition

Just a couple of examples for you:

I can understand the frustration, but it is a bit over the top. Everyone wants to play the definitive version of a game and that experience was on the xbox for the past 3 years.

The competitive CoD scene is huge and it was a Xbox exclusive scene due to M$'s rights. M$ backed and advertised a large amount of the CoD competitive leagues and tournaments. It can't do that anymore.

So a lot of those players, teams, and organizations will have to switch systems or play on a mildly supported hardware.

Here's a bad example with fabricated details: Currently most of the EVO Tournaments are run on xbox 360 consoles, but next year they will be run on Playstation for the first time. Which means all the players that are used to the xbox button layout now have to switch over to the PS button layout. Which can be a huge inconvenience on a competitive level and a big financial burden. Patches will also be released on the PS first and so will new characters. And also M$ can not have any type of ad presence during these tournaments.
So basically the M$ competitive fighting game scene is dead after years of been alive which would cause quite a few people to be upset. Especially since it wasn't due to superior hardware or a better format but just licensing agreements. Even people that played causally but still wanted the definitive experience no longer have that privilege.

I may be a mistaken but 90 percent of the competitors there use fight sticks, not gamepads.

Competitive FPS scene is different though. I wonder what gamepads they'll be using, Scuf Controllers?

360 Gamepads are best bar none I admit.
