Music is art, there is no certain points you need to score like sports or avgs and shyt, I fukks with a very wide range of genres/sub-genres.
And Future is far from a wack artist, he gets A+ just for doing something no one else is doing and actually doing it on a commercial level.
I don't hate on different I promote, it that's how all the great musicians came about. By doing something fresh and original, and that's also how you stay relevant.
And song writing is not that you write verses like Scarface, it's a different thing. Like Rihanna has the best song writers in the game, that's why even if you hate her shyt all her songs get stuck on your mind. Now he's not a top lyricist or whatever the fukk, but he's a dope rapper thus far. IMO, you've not got to agree but I don't see why one would hate.
