I think your missing the point. The outrage doesn't stem from whether this songs is influencing kids to sell drugs ( which I could probably argue that it does). The outrage stems from the fact that thezeartists are making a living promoting and celebrating the dark realities of black males in this country. Its exploitation. With the high incarceration rates and systematic oppression (as you like to say) it is deeply troubling that we have individuals who promote some of the same activities that lead them serving time in prison or God forbid, dead.

I never stated that but the notion that a lot of the issues we face as a people to stem from slavery or Jim crow is false. These are phenomenons that are fairly new.

Funny how these complex issues didn't exist during reconstruction or Jim crow. I don't think the video ties these "complex" issues with rap songs. I think the video is about the ongoing negative portrayals and exploitation in popular rap music

But they did exist in the 80's.
