Last time they tried they did not really try.
They need to do it!!

There is still time
shyt, I thought they tried last time...

They built up to Terminate on Sight pretty well. They had 2 very dope mixtapes...Body Snatchers and Elephant in the Sand.

They also released a lot of videos for both mixtapes, but the big issue IMO was that the Terminate on Sight album wasn't as dope as either of the mixtapes building up to it. That and the drama with them kicking Young Buck out of the group just prior to the release made for an uneven listen.

There's dope tracks on T.O.S. but the album was underwhelming and I just don't think G-Unit can work anymore. Not in today's climate. The only crew that can get away with the super violent gun play raps anymore are Griselda, and they have some really unique production and some left field artwork and personalities that holds a lot of it up. Either them or guys that weave in storytelling like Roc Marciano or Ka.

People generally don't want to hear that style these days, and even Lloyd Banks switched it up away from the punchlines and less gun raps, and has admitted to wanting to do more raps that would be inspiring to people.

:yeshrug:

Then they tried again to bring it back with Kid Kid and the same thing sort of happened.

A G-Unit revival in 2018 would be the 3rd attempt to bring it back.

They tried it didn’t work.
They tried twice and it didn't work. I consider the the campaign up to Terminate on Sight to be the first time they tried to bring it back. i know they hadn't split up yet, but they kicked Young Buck out, and things were already on the downside.

I guess my big thing is G-Unit will never be better than they were when they were on top in the mid 00's. So why make a less good version of something that was dope? I think it just tarnishes the legacy of that era from 50 Cent is The Future all the way up through he GRODT Soundtrack. After that, the Unit started to slide a little bit IMO.

When they brought in M.O.P., Mobb Deep, Mase, Spider Loc, Hot Rod, Olivia, etc...they just got too big, and then they never delivered the M.O.P. album, and Blood Money was kind of a dud. Rotten Apple was sort of a dud. They just started having some misses in 2006 and it kept on.

Can I get a G-Unit/Game tour?

They could jam like 25 hit songs straight through :win:

Their 2014 reunion would've been bigger with Game getting back in the group instead of Kidd Kidd. That ship might have sailed already, but if it happens it might make a rumbling in hip hop again.
