I guarantee you the Rams defense knew they (the 9ers coaching staff) weren't going to let Kaep check out of that play. Nah.. He doesn't need to check into another play, just snap and throw. Worse thing that could have happened there was an incompletion. Even if the pass is off nobody is around Torrey to pick it and they are obviously not expecting the pass anyway. Play ended up being a saftey.
