Referring to any none grant theft auto game tho

Only one I can think of is Pokémon console game with the same online features as the handheld

there's only 3 games that have sold more.

Tetris, Minecraft and Wii Sports.

Tetris has a ton of versions across a lot of platforms so that's kind of cheating

Wii Sports was a bundle with the most successful console ever

Minecraft 2 (if there will ever be such a thing) won't sell nearly as much because it's kind of it's own genre a sequel would have to be a universe or something to sell like it has

Diablo III is the closest in terms of sales that ISN'T a Nintendo exclusive and it only sold half (Diablo III is one of the best selling games ever?!)

only GTA VI, an incredible Mario game if Nintendo Switch is super successful or a new kind of game will outsell GTA V. no franchise or sequel will.

This a good question. I would have given it to Call of Duty but only two core consoles now and only a few hundred thousand on the PC since the player base switched.

Adding a seperate online element and allowing people to become gym leaders, or choosing between Proffesor Oaks academy or Team Rocket

A lot of you guys are posting niche games that this current generation doesn't know much about/won't buy in bulk like GTA. I think the guy who said online pokemon for a system is the current answer. Red Dead Redemption 2 will sell a lot, but again, it won't beat out GTA.
