Adding a seperate online element and allowing people to become gym leaders, or choosing between Proffesor Oaks academy or Team Rocket

You've never played Pokemon Colosseum or XD?

Obviously they not the same as what you described but they more like a open world Stadium with surprisingly good story modes

CoD is waning in popularity so I don't think it's possible now.

A Pokemon console game could work but it has to be done right. As of now there are waaaay too many pokemon and it would be difficult to new people to get into. A Red/Blue 3D HD remake w/ online could work.

FF has been waning in quality.
