Gaming trends and predictions for 2015-2016

NBA2k will once again not have Online leagues that allow you to play multiple years

That's more of a statement of fact than a prediction though

A lot more AAA games will have 1-4 hour long standalone "expansions" or stories. Sort of like MGS Ground Zeroes, Infamous: First Light, The Assignment (The Evil Within), Left Behind (TLOU) and that new Wolfenstein game coming out in May. Why? Because really it's a win/win/win situation for everyone:

1) Fans of the games get a short story with more of the gameplay they loved in the main game.

2) Studios get to make more money off their investment in the main game's game engine and game design, while also keeping their series current and relevant.

3) People who are interested in the gameplay of the main game but don't want to drop $60 can get this at a much lower entry price of $20. I don't want 15 hours of Far Cry 4 for $60, but I'll gladly take 5 hours of Far Cry 4 for $20 if they make a standalone expansion.

Alot of people like to take guesses at whats coming and whats going to be the future trends. Figured I make a thread so people can express what they see trending or what they feel the next big thing or game might be.






I think the FPS genre is on heavy life support, and we are going to start to see far less attempts at triple A FPS. Outside of Halo and gears I think everything else is a wrap. I also feel like jrpgs and rpgs in general are about to make a heavy splash again.
