Cool convo. I remember that series vividly, it was one of the most exciting ones I've ever watched. Payton is misremembering how it went though. They got blown out in Game 3, Kemp didn't miss any FTs. Game 4 they were up 3 with under a minute left and Kemp got fouled on a drive and that looked like the end of the series. Kemp missed both FTs, Pack hit a 3, and Seattle had a struggle possession where Pack should've ended the game on a layup after he got a steal but he fukked up, then they got another steal and fukked that up too. Crazy fukking game, crazy fukking series. Will never forget it.
Denver just had their number that season. Beat them twice in the regular season too.
There were mad unintentional ducktales in that interview. Payton said Kemp missed two FTs with 8 seconds left in Game 3 then Pack came down and hit a 3. That's not how it happened at all. Wrong game, plus Kemp missed two FTs with like a minute to play and the Sonics and Nuggets both had a couple chances to score after the Pack 3. And who was shaking their hands down 4 with like a minute left?
Then KG boldly said "y'all went to a couple finals." Nah, they went to one. That team was mad disappointing to me. All that fukking talent and depth, and only one Finals appearance to show for it. Thought they were destined for a few finals appearances and at least one championship. But George Karl squads gon' George Karl.

seattle handled hakeem in 93 and 96 like it's nothing, they did the same to utah in 93 and 96
94 or 95 was the year to win it all, and they blew it like no one else, that 95 series they lost to the young ceballos, van exel, eddie jones squad
