Everything he saying is true, up until that last sentence.
Also, racism was more overt in the late 80’s and 90’s. White people kept it too themselves more than they do today.

im a millennial but when i started using the internet as a kid, it was mostly flash games, anime, and video game nerd shyt
the more ubiquitous the internet became, the more i realized how cacs, and even other minority groups, felt about black people
right now, there's a bit of a reversal. i think for the first time ever. cacs know they're cacs. they are aware of the stereotypes about them, their history, what other groups think of them, etc.
some of them accept it and dont care. others get butthurt and go full racist because they cant reconcile being told they're awesome their whole lives with the reality that they're either mid and just like everyone else, or just subpar and mediocre

America was more segregated back in the 80s and 90s. Fewer blacks in the burbs, fewer whites in Urban areas, and gentrifying hoods was just starting. White folks were far less likely to know who the cool rappers were. Most white kids had no clue who De La Soul were until they saw them on In Living Colour. White kids were still being taught to say "Rap music isn't real music" by their Disco-hating Uncles. Racism was real, but we all knew back then, that overt racism more than likely lead to violence, so folks avoided being overt about it or stayed within their own communities. Most of the racism you run into today is either via social media, by a cop, or in the workplace of corporate America.
so is he…he’s not gen x which is why he doesn’t know what he’s talking about…black teenagers and young men were getting ran out of white neighborhoods sometimes killed during the time gen X’ers were coming up (and these weren’t isolated cases) and schools and communities were still pretty much divided for the most part

actually idk his age so I can’t definitively say he’s a millennial but he does seem to be describing a time when millennials were coming up
