As it concerns GM's recall of vehicles w/ an 'Ignition Switch Defect'

6/2013
A deposition by a Cobalt program engineer says the company made a "business decision not to fix this problem," raising questions of whether GM consciously decided to launch the Cobalt despite knowing of a defect.

12/2013
GM determines that the faulty ignition switch is to blame for at least 31 crashes and 13 deaths.

3/2014
GM recalls 1.55 million vans, sedans and sport utility vehicles.

3/2014
GM recalls an additional 824,000 vehicles (including all model years of the Chevrolet Cobalt and HHR, the Pontiac G5 and Solstice, and the Saturn Ion and Sky), stating ignition switches could be faulty; the new total number of recalled vehicles in the U.S. is 2,191,146.

Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew announces the government had sold the last of what was previously a 60 percent stake in GM, ending the bailout. The bailout had cost taxpayers $10 billion on a $49.5 billion investment.

Increase taxes to bailout a company who doesn't think enough of these same tax payers to send them hurling to their death or serious injury in addition to essentially having potentially 2 million ticking time bombs on the road brehs.

I get your point but you couldn't let a company fail that employs hundreds of thousands of people through manufacturing, supplies and dealers....in one of the biggest downtowns in the economy

Well my point of this thread is about the shady business of GM rather than the bailout, but since you say this.....since when has the govt ever cared about the ppl?

GM and Ford needing govt help is less about "hard-working Americans" keeping their jobs and more about other factors. They ultimately put themselves in that position by making shoddy products, even admitted so.

yeah I got your main point was about the death-mobiles they were selling, you just said bailout and I thought I'd say we needed those jobs at that time.

you are right though... Are they too big of a burden?
