I'm no fan of Schumer, but he got the GOP in a trick bag by holding steadfast. I see them fighting each other over the nuclear option. A bunch are opposed to it because then they own the shutdown and open Dems up to a power grab in '26.

They are DESPERATE to have Dem fingerprints on the shutdown or the loss of ACA subsidies.

The fact that this has all played out so that doing nothing ended up being the right strategy really does say a lot.

Further proof that surrounding yourself with sycophants is a bad idea. Literally anyone with sense would be able to tell him that maybe waiting until this whole shutdown situation blows over would be the right move.
