digging will never die completely, it might fall by the wayside with newer beatmakers but it will always exist as the foundation. i'm no purist like gensu dean, i know there's a million and one tools at the click of a mouse. i'll grab an album off soulseek sometimes if i don't see it in the field but i know that someone else did the work to find it and put it online. no matter what your method is to get that break or loop digging is still the genesis.
most beatmakers now don't see physically digging is necessary because they want instant results and instant gratification. they wanna take a couple clicks, find a loop, cop a drum kit and put it on soundcloud immediately. that's cool if thats your wave but i'd rather know i put time, money, effort and PATIENCE into a beat by digging through every bin i can find to make it.
