Never understood how anyone could be fine with teachers hitting kids.


If your boss at work tries to hit you with a paddle or a belt you’d quit or slap the shyt out of them, but some people think it’s cool to do this to fukkin children.

I just looked up the demographics of this charter school. 20-25% of the students there are black...something tells me the % of students who will receive the paddle though - just like "law enforcement" - will be much higher.

but let me say this. If we are saying and admitting that a lot of these kids are not being parented well enough to be better behaved while in school. and if we are going to admit that these teachers need to be pseudo parents. Then they need to have similar power over the child as a parent otherwise a child will know they could get away with murder and the teacher can't do much about it cause "you aint my mama" or "you aint my daddy." This is why it would make sense in that scenario to allow for teachers to be able to paddle your kids.

But here's the problem. I was a little kid during the tail end of that paddling era. My parents gave me whoopings. But now that we know the rod should be spared unless we're talking about special circumstances. and even then you dont beat a kid out of anger(which most parents and teachers will/would do. you are giving them this physical punishment while telling them what they did wrong, acknowledging that they know what they did wrong because you told them that it was wrong numerous times and the consequences of such wrong doing outside of being spanked. If you can pull that off IN LOVE. then go on ahead and spank the kid. But thats not whats going to happen. what will happen is this. more bruised fruit as my wife says will be abusing kids. meaning you have adults that were hurt/harmed as children and carry that with them. so they will most likely act out that mentality on the children they are teaching when they THINK the kid has gotten out of line. In addition. we already know it will be mostly black/brown kids catching the beats. whether they deserve it or not. or you will have a bunch of quick to anger adults just flashing and whooping kids left and right. which is not the way it should work.
Truth is, that paddle should RARELY come out and only in extreme cases/situations. that aint what this is.

This is bs. I was a teacher and the absolute worst kids are the same ones who were getting beat by their parents the worst. Those kinda beatings don't teach anyone crap except "I'm bigger than you so I get my say." It means the kids never act right unless they're in immediate danger of a beating, and sometimes not even then, because they don't know anything about the actual reasons to act right.

It's a substitute for teaching people how to live right, and it's only used by parents and teachers who are either too lazy to teach kids how to behave well for the right reasons, or just were never raised right themselves so they don't know how.

I would assume that if the parent is a single mother then she would be pulled to side, buried up to her neck, and stoned. If you're a proponent of "spare the rod, spoil the child", then clearly you believe that adultery or (postmarital or) extramarital affairs are a sin and a stonable offense, as well.

paddling is decently common at schools in a decent amount of the sticks of Georgia/The South, a few of my elementary schools back in the day had paddling as an option, but relatively few parents ever signed the form IIRC (this town is a decent sized town right outside of Augusta so not quite the sticks though)

The thing is, if I'm a teacher even if I had free reign to paddle, this isn't the 1950s anymore. These days now I have to worry about the wrong kid coming back and blasting every teacher in sight as revenge.
