One of my parents is From DR, other is black American, I was born and raised here.

I asked simply because of this;

I think we've got to come to an understanding that we don't have to hate each for being different, but, we are.

Black American have dealt with the whole of American oppression and paved the way to make this a country that is feasible for other black and brown folk to come in.

I'm sorry, but, i can't accept--with all the things my family has dealt with--we aren't owed more.

That said, i appreciate the contribution folk who may have come from different places to help.

Only African American culture is referred to as Black culture, therefore “Black” people from a cultural standpoint (not racially obviously ) are the only Black people.

Black is a culture and a race and only Black Americans are apart of both.

What about Afro-Brazilian culture?

Why would that not classified as black culture?

Given your parameters of what black is (descendants of slavery, no land to call their own, etc.) surely they should be considered a part of this exclusive "blackness" club only reserved for African Americans, no?

I was clear in my post.

1.Kool Herc did not create hip hop and completely she'd his Jamaican culture before participating in an already ongoing AA Bronx cultural phenomena.
2.Biggie is not UNIVERSALLY heralded as the hip hop GOAT...there aren't many statues of him around the world.... plus he didn't really acknowledge being "Jamaican". The man got booed there at the Christmas bottle celebration, though. :mjpls:

Don't use this thread to air your imaginary grievances against AAs, nobody has a monopoly on anything but y'all nikkas were free to come to the US by choice. You also free to leave.
We don't have that choice, we've been here since BEFORE the beginning, and shyt ain't sweet. It's still our home at the end of the day. Our culture is not just a shared "generic black" thing. It's ours. Be respectful and learn the components that make up what you call "yours". If it wasn't for us...that musical form wouldn't exist.

feel like the actor and can empathize with everything he had to say as a dark skin African. I'm not out here tryna prove my blackness to anyone for anything. Just vibe with people that can see beyond narrow constraints. We all have our struggles, I don't owe anyone anything... my gratitude is an invite to hospitality in the motherland in kind to the reception you give me in the west. I tell all my black folks here they got family and a place to stay if they wanna visit and that's for real. Anyone that wants to spend time being divisive can keep wasting their time. Real power is in organization and numbers. When Black people start being aware that it will be a collaborating effort amongst us all to elevate our status in the world I'll be ready. All this bickering about identity and blackness though is fruitless. Hasn't been productive in any capacity.
