I try not to be cynic but the world is full of predators. A lot of ppl make a living off of other ppl's ignorance. And my homies wonder why I'm so obsessed with reading/learning. We're living in the information age, there's no reason you shouldn't be knowledgeable when entering into agreements and contracts. Just a couple of examples:
My sister put some E-85 ethanol gas in her car that wasn't designed to run that fuel. Her car started dying and running rough, she took it to the dealership and they told her that her engine was shot. Quoted her a $5k repair job. I got on the internet and found that to be false info. Had her take the car to get the tank drained and refilled with regular gas. She drove the car around for about 30 minutes with it sputtering and all of a sudden it straightened up. She hasn't had a problem out of it since and that was 2 years ago.
Social Security claimed they had overpaid my step mom $15k. She had a car in her name that wasn't even running that put her over the allowable asset limit. I had her appeal the decision. I studied SSI and found if they used the broken down car as her main vehicle and the equity value of her newer car to determine her countable assets, that would put her under the allowable limit. She got the letter last week saying she no longer owed.
I'm just having fun out here
