WCW as a company was trash in 1994 so it stood to reason Starrcade would be garbage.

1995 was a solid show.

1996 was a good undercard with a main event that wasn't gonna win any MOTY awards but had two wrestling's biggest stars in the ring for the first time in forever and had Piper going over Hogan which made the fans happy considering Hogan was the most hated man in wrestling at the time.

Aside from the Malenko/Guerrero match 1997 was an overbooked shyt show from top to bottom.

1998 had the 3 way match between Juventud, Misterio and Kidman for the Cruiswerwight belt that was good, the Bischoff/Flair match that was hilarious and a pretty decent match between DDP and The Giant. The main event between Goldberg and Nash was a mess but my problem wasnt with the use of a stun gun, it was with Disco fukking Inferno interfering on Nash's behalf.

There was only one good match on the 1999 show and the rest was all horrible Vince Russo booking run amok.

2000 was hot garbage.

93 Starrcade had a 29 minute tag match ended in DQ... That is not even the most WCW thing ever... but still. Talk about what a waste of time that most of been...

Edit: WTF at '86 Starrcade... Looking like an ECW show... but the main event ends in a Double DQ... This shyt makes WWE 2017 booker look like gods.

If it wasn't for Starrcade there would be no Wrestlemania.
Debatable. The big closed circuit shows had been done before and wrestlemani wasnt even wwfs first foray into that arena. Startcade was originally a touring card for multiple cities right? Best believe the show in shae stadium woulda been on ppv had the technology been available.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Halloween Havoc 98 had a much better card (on paper) than Starrcade 98. It felt more Starrcade than Starrcade.

Starrcade 97 is an underrated WCW botch. How could they fukk up things so badly? That was supposed to be the night that WCW finally one upped the nWo all the way through, but yeah, WCW.

Starrcade was the first big card wrestling event, A year before Wrestlemania 1, Vince seen that and decided to make a similar event and called it Wrestlemania

You can say Starrcade was trash after a certain point, but you can't say it didn't star power well into 99 and 00. Meanwhile, it's 2017 version that's currently at 6 matches will have Dolph Ziggler, Breezango, Mike Kanellis, and Aiden English featured

Starrcade was the first big card wrestling event, A year before Wrestlemania 1, Vince seen that and decided to make a similar event and called it Wrestlemania

The idea for starrcade came from the showdown at shae shows according to crocket himself which started in 72 and ended in 80. I believe the one in 80 was on closed circuit (remember jim ross saying he invested in it) but was a huge dissapointment outside the territory because noone knew who these guys were. Hence vince needing to go national first and build his towns so when wm hit, people wanted to see it instead of wondering what it was. 83-85 was prolly the most important time in wrestling because thts when vince focused on taking over.

with ppv coming up it was only a matter of time before these evnts started. Starrcade was all closed circuit which prior was very risky for wrestling events (the muhommed ali vs inoki disaster) while wrestlemania actually was on ppv and closed circuit.

Vince was in the middle of expanding n jacking talent in 83 which is why crocket even did the show to compete. Vince chose a year long build with MTV putting on the war to settle the score and put everything into wrestlemania (tv spots, late night shows, mtv, celebs) which is why wrestlemania is what it is today.

My point being that wm is more than a ppv wrestling show, vince innovated the ppv game where all crocket did was throw on a big show in the fall (which they always did anyway) and took the gamble on closed circuit which had already beeen done before just not successfully. It was not the first ppv, or the first closed circuit show. It wasnt even national. It was literally nwas showdown at shae to the T , 3 years later.

So saying no wm without starrcade is a reach as vince was in the middle of taking over america and couodnt just run a show n gamble it doing poorly; he had to get his product on tv and running those new towns first before he could run the big show. Otherwise their just woulda been another showdown at shae, he was thinking bigger than all of them.

I have no doubt wm was in his plans. Starrcade was only on closed circuit in the territory they had, it wasnt national.

Imo people saying starrcade made vince do wm is just nwa stans tryna give props. It had been done before.. wm was the real beginning of that type of spectacle

Bruh it's not a reach, the Vince ass kissing needs to stop.

I'm not talking the idea of Starrcade, I'm talking about Starrcade.

1983 Starrcade was shown on Closed Circuit Television and Starrcade was their yearly Main Card event with 2 of the biggest greatest wrestlers headlining Ric Flair vs Harley Race.

It was hit, and Vince Mc'Mahon was paying attention to it, How it was a big card event, and how it was shown on CCTV the next year Vince made Wrestlemania to counter against Starrcade.

Again if it wasn't for Starrcade there wouldn't be a Wrestlemania
