This don't prove shyt, and nkkas are prideful. This don't mean Wayne aint low-key pull Gill to the side, and tell em to do it, OR go to him for tips/direction. I was was a teen, outside back then. It's indisputable that pre-Carter Wayne, and post-Carter Wayne had two different sounds/deliveries. :manny:

Wayne career was on the ropes before the Carter 1, wit that "wobbly, woobly..." ass 500 Degreez flow. Gillie may not had mainstream recognition, but his sound was regionally known up here. It's no coincidence Wayne style changed, once he was around that nkka. IDC what u say :hubie:

Saying he physically wrote bars for him doesn’t really make sense, his style running off on wayne does though. Philly had a way of doing that :yeshrug: ask Jay.

Thats faulty logic, first of all if you actually listened to 500 degreez, there is really no drastic change in Waynes style from there to Carter 1. The most glaring change is the production is far less "bounce" and a lot more polished and smooth. But by this time Wayne had made it known Jayz was one of his influences. Acting like he is incapable of mimicking Jayz cadence, which Jay arguably mimicked from some Philly rappers himself is ridiculous:mjlol:.

But Waynes still using the voice inflections, voice changes, bouncy new orleans flow at different points in Carter 1. So acting like he was a whole new person is a overstatement. Also at one point didnt Gillie say Jay bit his style irrc? Mystery solved,Wayne was drawing influence from Jay which he mentioned often, while never uttering shyt about a damn Gillie:mjlol:

Plus you have guys like Sauce Walka today who made dramatic transformations style wise. Doesnt mean he has a ghostwriter. Some southern cats listen to east coast rappers and can emmulate it,but choose not to due to their demographic. Unless you want to pretend Wayne was ever trash lyrically. He always had promise in that regard, also with his wordplay.

Wayne was like 18 for 500 Degreez and then he dropped C1 at 21. Of course he’s going to sound different. Y’all nikkas really aren’t critical thinkers :mjlol:

His style was nothing like Jay-Z at that time. He can say Jay-Z, cause Jay was who he was but everyone in the NE section of the US who were familiar with Gillie said it during that time. You heard nothing but Gillie in his rhymes. If you didn't learn of Gillie until their beef started, then you may say something different, but dudes especially in Philly were saying how Wayne was starting to sound like Gillie...not "Philly". NYC folks co-signed it as well. Dutch & Bump were around too, and Wayne didn't pick up their styles.

Boo & Gotti have also said in the past that they were writing for the camp, not just Baby. And for all it's worth, there are/were videos with Gill & Wayne in the studio with no Boo & Gotti around. Gill obviously had a huge influence on him at that time. He wasn't wearing Boo & Gotti chains.

Wayne is a star. He just had it. And when the label was in a transition, of course they would use every resource to take that star further, including ghostwriters.

I never thought Gill wrote entire songs. I believe he gave him verses, and definitely more than a few lines. Wayne from that era has verses that sound 100% Gillie, including the Philly slang. Gillie raps like he talks...always has...most Philly dudes do...which is how it stands out when an outsider tries to sound like Philly. That's how it also stood out when Jay started using Chris' flow. Chris talks like that.

Well wheres the Gillie songs? Wayne was obviously inspired by east coast dudes by around 2000. You heard that on the Squad Up Tapes. But he was an admitted Jayz/Rocafella fan. So even saying you as a philly cat heard Philly in Wayne just speaks to that, considering 80% of Rocafellas artist were from Philly around that time.:comeon:

Unrelated,throwback:mjcry:

And btw Wayne was still using that bouncy, melodic flow through most of the Carter 1. Thats not that far of a cry from what he was doing on 500 degreez imo. I dont think the change is nearly as drastic as people imply. I was listening to Wayne since Hotboyz Dayz, and Da Block Is Hot was one of my favorite albums as a kid. I followed his career through all that time, and the proggression seemed natural to me. There was nothing jarring for me,yet people act like Wayne all of a sudden just learned how to rap come C1:mjlol:. I think its more of a hatred of his southern style and sound that made people sleep

:dwillhuh: breh so many rappers have been one note over the course of their entire careers

I have no horse in this debate but that logic you just used makes no sense

If anything there was a Mickey Halsted influence on Wayne. What’s I don’t get is how you ghostwrite for someone that doesn’t write? And like someone said earlier that jump in skill is not as pronounced as you think. Y’all just didn’t listen to pre-Carter Wayne like 500 degrees let alone Guerrilla warfare .

This was released in 99 so Wayne is like 15 or younger here
1:07

He does way less singy songy inflections, onomatopoeia, and his voice is higher
