I think it's at times politically incorrect and sexist, like a vast part of rap music as a whole, but it's tone in general is playful and light....it's not the most advanced song concept, but Jay doing tracks like that, was groundbreaking at the time, coupled with the production shift to soul samples....you wouldn't get those days unless you were there for them. Calling it hateful or bitter is grossly or deliberately misinterpeting the track...
