Do you think some day we will see an undefeated power 5 team be left out of the playoff if they're not playing like one of the 4 best?

I think everyone pretty much universally applied the logic "well they haven't lost in 2 years, are defending champs, you can't just leave them out..." but who (besides FSU fans) actually thought they have played like a top 4 team this year? The other 3 definitely deserved it, and I don't think anyone would have picked FSU to beat Baylor or TCU either. But ya know, "can't leave em out.."

But next year and future years, can you? Based on what we saw last night, I say fukk it, leave an undefeated team out if another is better..

Probably.

Florida State had everything going in its favor, from a returning Heisman winner to a 25-game win streak to a national championship the year prior. FSU also had "quality wins" over Georgia Tech and Notre Dame, which at the time was No. 5 in the country.

Despite all that, FSU was only the fourth seed.

That being said, it will be rare to see an undefeated power-five team miss out.

I knew this was going to happen. Yes the final score was a blowout but if you watched the game you could tell Florida State was just as good as Oregon. They were moving the ball up and down the field. If the refs call the pass interference in the end zone on the one play, and if Jameis was able to get the extra foot on the option play Florida State would've had a nice lead. Then the fumbles and uncharecteristic turnovers started. Neither team could stop the other from moving the ball. Just looking at the final score it would appear Florida State was out of its league but watching the game and you can tell they deserved to be there. The real truth is the playoffs need to be 6 to 8 games so that if a team goes undefeated they still have to prove themselves.

no

because if you are an udefeated power 5 team you ARE playing like one of the 4 best. Its too easy to lose a college football game within those conferences to say so. Even guys like MARSHALL this year and UTAH when they were in MWC struggled to run the table because its INCREDIBLY EASY to lose a game.

if you have 13 wins you absolutely deserve to play for the championship

it needs to be a tournament of champions whether that means a conference gets broken up, they adopt the MWC or MAC, or a conference [big xii] folds into the rest.

WIN to QUALIFY and NO COMMITTEE or its a paper champ

No... The exact same thing will happen, that supposed team just wont be ranked #1....

FSU looked suspect all year, i expected them to lose (not by that much) But even the committee isnt crazy enough to leave out a power 5 school...

And the playoff is great at 4 teams... In what year does a #8 team look like the best in the country

Any time you have a defending champion who goes undefeated, they will play title games in January.

BCS or Playoffs, it doesn't matter.

nope because the team won't be as disliked as FSU was this year and

"this conference is that much better " narrative won't be as strong
