Now that your kid is expecting you to give your cell phone/tablet etc. whenever they want it, how do they react when you deny?


I'm not a parent but i know there are a lot of you . I see my sisters doing this shyt with their kids and now they hardly go outside. Since im an adult, I can play video games as long as i want. But when I was a kid, it was 2 hours tops on weekends.

Did your parents ever make up some bullshyt on why you couldn't play video games too long when you were young? Moms use to always use the excuse, 'the electricity is going to high or the tv will break down'?

I use to hate that shyt. Especially when it was me and my nikkas with a fresh new game (smash melee for instance). We use to play that shyt all day..but she or her ex would make us go outside. I can see the reasoning tho..lil boys need to have physical activity.
I also do give my son games so he can give me a break. He has ADHD so when he isn't on his pills..he will talk my fukkin head off. Only thing that calms him down and focuses him are those little phone games. Can't let him have it all day tho cause he will just do that for the complete day

LOL @ you and your parents having to assign your silly ass a set # of hours for gaming as a kid! And only on weekends at that.
As long as you are respectful and do what you need to be done (in school/house/etc.), that shyt is hardly necessary. I went out side damn near whenever and played games damn whenever for as long as I wanted, long as those rules were followed. fukk your "childhood".

When I was young, my mom wouldn't dare give me her phone(a breh just wanted to play snake on the old ass Nokia's), just told us to shut the fukk up or she'd tell my pops we was acting out.

Definitely had a good balance of gaming and outdoor activity as a kid tho. My parents wouldn't force us to play outside because if it was sunny and nikkas wasn't grounded, everybody was outside from 11-7.

When we did play too many games tho she'd come in talking about us going blind. Electricity bill excuse wasn't gonna fly cause my dad had a DJ studio set up. All them speakers, mixers, turntables, and everything was costing more electricity than my N64 and she knew I knew.

You have to balance that shyt. My wife and I call it screen time. Limit that shyt daily. Don't let that shyt raise your kids and they become fatass slobs that sit down and never work all their lives.

I wouldn't judge your sisters too harshly.
As a parent you will have times when electronics can be a life saver(tv, ipad, etc) and buy you some peace and quiet...not to mention could be educational

Haitian parents too cheap to buy expensive electronics so their kids can stay out of sight.

I don't plan on having kids but I wouldn't negotiate with them either... fukk kids.

naw, my nieces are good. their always watching youtube videos on baking cakes and shyt. they even baked me a cup cake for fathers day and i aint got no kids

When we are down in the mancave because the playroom is on the other side of the basement. They (The kids) point to all my shyt in the basement. I can't lie, not like I'm rich but the 7-14 year iceberg would be busting nuts at what I have in the mancave. That said, as they point to that, I point to the most important thing in that part of the house. My MBA degree hanging on the wall. Get that shyt poppin then you can sit on your ass somewhat. You have to earn this type of stuff. For now? Get y'all asses outside and run around till the street lights come on.

I balance it well I think. Putting you child in front of a desktop is the way to go instead of a TV or tablet. There is much more educational entertainment and it familiarizes them with a computer environment early.

But letting the TV, computer, tablet, or console babysit your kids all day is shytty parenting. You got to push exercise, connection with nature, arts and TLC.

I've had my moments of laziness though. I won't lie.
