It might be a double-edged sword imo. More land means more crops which means more food thus preventing global starvation in the near future. On the downside, melting icecaps leads to rising sea levels which means coastal cities like New York and D.C. go underwater within 50 to 100. So you have prolonging of the human race versus losing some of the most important meccas on the planet. Fair trade. :shaq2:

Heat waves, artic blast and heavy rains would offset any benefits.

Admittedly I'm semi-ignorant on the subject, but at the same time I'm not entirely convinced we're all on a doomed trajectory as the scientists have been saying. Not to come off like the so called anti-intellectuals, but the "experts" aren't always right either. Maybe I'm watching too many sci-fi movies, but it is funny how this land becomes visible for the first time in 40,000 years during an era that has been deemed a crisis. The earth is obviously going through a change, adaptation. Climate Change types are looking at this glass as half empty, but I'm wondering if we should be looking at it as half full. It almost comes off borderline arrogant to think that mankind controls the earth's destiny, when the reality is it's out of our control and we need to be the ones adapting accordingly.
The thing for me is that I absolutely believe humans effect the planet. But not the way most people think. I think of the planet as a living breathing organism. We come from the earth and our bodies consist of the same things: vitamins, minerals, and water. Extracting all these things from the earth may be doing damage like it would if these things were extracted from us. Like for all we know oil could be like the Earth’s blood and we are just sucking it all out

Mans talking about extra land being a good thing. Extra land in the Artic lmao. Anyways there's tons of land available right now, that's never been the problem, the problem is that the products are not well redistributed. There's already more than enough food on Earth, but not at the right place/going to the people in need. Extra land in the Artic ain't gonna help anyone :francis::mjlol:
