On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, show hosts Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed Charlotte losing the WWE Womens Title to Sasha Banks on Raw this week. Both show hosts noted that while not confirmed, they heard from sources that Charlotte recently requested some time off from WWE, which might explain the title change.

Charlotte definitely elevated women's wrestling and just in time for that beautiful looking belt. If they keep it up, it's really about to be on some MMA type stuff, where the women's feuds can be just as captivating and must-see instead of a pee break. It's a great time for wrestling. Can't wait for my baby Asuka to come up and wreck shop too.

Well good thing GOATlotte is taking a lesser schedule now after carrying the women's division before something like what happened to Seth could have happened

Now, hopefully Botcha Banks calms the hell down with being so reckless during big matches so that she doesn't end up like a Daniel Bryan

UPDATE: PWInsider is refuting reports that Charlotte is taking time off in the near future, saying that according to sources Charlotte is scheduled for all her bookings in the near future and that there have been no request made to take time off.

The site says that the title switch was made in order to open the “New Era” of Raw with a big surprise and that with Charlotte’s run establishing the title as legitimate, the company is more open to the possibility of moving the title to push storyliness. Triple H is a big fan of Sasha and since the two were already planning to battle at SummerSlam, the title switch adds heat to the match.

I have to say I had little to no interest in women's wrestling until earlier this year. When a woman's match came on I either changed the channel or fast forwarded if I had it on DVR/Hulu. She's definitely gotten better as a wrestler and improved the division. The way she's been booked has been great as well.

Charlotte has been great as a heel champion despite her struggle curves. This new era women's division was off to an iffy start but Monday showed things should be picking up...that Smackdown division is a whole different story though
