Going home for the holidays is always stressful for me.

I'm at home for Thanksgiving and usually it ends up me doing stuff for other people and stressing out about Thanksgiving dinner and other shyt.

I end up running errands and doing work for family.

It's also sometimes emotionally draining and sad seeing your elders aging and you feeling powerless.

Granted it's partly my fault I don't delegate much time to go on vacation for respite but my mother is the worst offender with the people pleasing around the holidays the wants me to come home more often.

She made a comment not inviting my girlfriend this time coming back but this time of year is never pleasant for me.

I'll probably indulge in a drink and some retail therapy TBH.

It's not them it's moreso the situation. I guess I'm envious of folks who go home and it's relaxing, no family issues, just enjoying one another.

It may come off as whining but you don't understand my family dynamics. This shyt literally has driven parts of my family to limit contact or cease contact entirely. This mostly from the men in the family.

It's not also whining to see family of yours your love age and it taking an emotional toll on you..

To highlight some family nonsense this time around my cousin wanted my uncle's wife, her Mom, to be invited for Thanksgiving.

She caused drama throughout my uncle's marriage with her and she did some bullshyt many times towards my grandma and myself.

My aunt and mother are sometimes too nice to people. I don't know why she was invited after all that history. My uncle didn't come this holiday, and hardly keeps contact because of the matriarchs.

It's just added drama during the holiday and unnecessary.

nikka everybody got family issues - me and my girl got woken up with a phone call from her mom saying we broke her step dad's Side view mirror on his S550...........................................ON THANKSGIVING....come to find out it was already previously broke and he rigged it cuz he cheapguess this was his plan to accuse us after we left my girl was extra heated calling him fat and his mom a submissive bytch

I really think you just took the part about me running errands for others and totally ignored the part about me dealing with the emotional toll of my aging family. Either it was deliberate or you're trying to milk this "your selfish" thing a lot.

No it's not fulfilling dealing with my uncle's ex wife coming or the drama associated with that. I'm not thankful that two of my relatives are regularly hospitalized and see them deteriorating. Not to mention my aunt trying to get me to side with her over a conflict between her and my mother. fukk all that.

I'm really just venting on this stuff. I don't see how you derived this as some sort of selfishness. Me wanting to celebrate loved ones and no pettiness is whiny now?

Totally. I saw my uncle but he's having memory issues and I'm like damn it's only been a few months seeing him and he was better.

I should clarify that I feel like much of the drama is derived from my mother's side of the family. My father's side are actually tame compared to my mother's side.

everybody and they momma know how stressful and petty being around family can be. The arguing, noise, shyt talking like you won’t snap on someone, the “im better than you” attitudes, judging, etc.,

not to mention the random errands (which I don’t mind, get me tf away from yalll), on top of the awkwardness when you bring your significant other or their people around.

it was always some fukking drama which is why some people only come around during the holidays or as needed.

I didn’t go home because I had to work but my girls fam came over. It was cool but I could tell with some of the females that their was tensions and drama.
