was just thinking about the "Golden Age of hip hop" which is considered to be from roughly 86 to 94 and i thought to myself tho that era is basically untouchable when you take into account the greats who emerged and numerous classic albums that dropped during this time. My question tho is this, was that really the Golden age or can there be a case made for 96-04. we are now a decade removed from that time period and if you look back now there are just as many classic albums released during that time from Reasonable Doubt to Supreme Clientele to ATLiens... i can go on but if you know your hip hop you know what it is. Can there be an argument made for this era or is 86-94 as good as it has been

The golden age is now.

Do you hear the production nowadays?

Like actually hear it? How amazing it is? How much the beats have evolved over the years?

Lyrically dudes still go in, and lyrically dudes still speak about real problems, not every mainstream rapper is ignorant.

Look at J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Joey Badass, Drake, even Big Sean.

Old school hip hop will always be old school hip hop, but the new shyt just knocks SO much harder.

Open your eyes.

I've always thought 86-96 was the golden area myself. But that's probably because that's when all my favorite rappers dropped their first albums. And to this day, i still listen to 90's hip hop on almost a daily basis.

I do like some current rappers who i feel are staying true to the golden age though. Skyzoo, Joey Bada$$, Kendrick, Ab Soul to name a few.
