Why wouldn't they?
The AI needs to be able to generate both authentic looking videos from content creators and feature length film level acting upon demand.
We are at the precipice where this will eventually invoke a different level of story telling. No more writing out sex scenes because the actress isn't comfortable. No more stunt doubles because the actors can't perform their own stunts

I think we're going to have personalized media based on established properties. We may have to license out the actors, locations, props, effects and scenarios... it's a corporation's wet dream.

Not sure if I favor it yet because not only is it going to destroy livelihoods overnight, it honestly may limit creativity unless you have the money to pay. But it definitely is coming.

Imagine being able to use RDJ, Evans and Hemsworth likeness forever for any kinda of personalized MCU production. And in some circumstances being able to sell the content you created as long as all of the IP holders get paid appropriately.

This also may unfortunately be the end of art as we know it though.

You see it. Pay Disney/Warner/etc. for fanfic on demand. Corps will make a killing and the entire infrastructure around entertainment dies overnight. Plays about to make a comeback.:wow: It's a brave new world out there

Pretty much. I think society is going to suck for 90% of the population real soon; and because people don't understand nuance, yes I know it already sucks for 90% of the pop, but it can always get worse...; that people eventually are going to become reclusive within whatever personal media bubble they want to create. It's some dark Black Mirror shyt.

Taking my MCU scenario above, I can see folks perverting the images and making them be anything that corroborates their worldview too. "Siri, make a MAGA adjacent Ironman 1 movie that massacres the middle east..." this kinda was Ironman 1, but I digress...

We already don't share consistent truths, it's going to get a helluva a lot worse.

The trusty terms and conditions has that covered

Imagine YT trains an AI model using a video the content creator couldn't get monetized. :dead:

I noticed a lot of AI generated videos on YT lately. I made the mistake of watching a few and then boatloads of AI generated channels that are only 2-3 months old started flooding my algo with similar content. I'm assuming those aren't coming from Google/YT but it's probably only a matter of time
I love the Civilizations YT series but that's prime subject matter for AI to generate

Why wouldn't the companies allow this if they own the IP? The cost/benefit calculus is just too good.

I can see them forbidding sexual stuff, but anything else would be clear. If they buy out actors' likenesses, and they will sell for the right price, especially if they get royalties. Imagine being an actor and getting paid to not actually act, just letting them sell your body/voice likeness to be used as a puppet for AI users. :wow:

I think that sets a dehumanizing precedent. One of the driving forces of humanity is innovation. We're legit probably going to see the end of innovation if everything is licensed out and behind a pay wall.

For instance, I'm a big fighting game fan... I bought street fight V 7 years ago or some shyt... IT WASN'T EVEN A fukkING COMPLETE GAME... I think I personally spent another $150 to get all of the features you would get from a completed game. Apply this logic to every other media platform... and then really apply it when there's ONLY 5 media companies right now, and someone like Warner/Discovery split recently so it's easier to sell off Warner Bros to an Amazon or an Apple.

It's the commodification of culture. Culture should never be commodified. It's why rap sucks right now. It's why every movie nowadays is some end of the world spectacle. Its a lack of innovative thought that only those with money will be able to access... which fine, that's one way to do it, but if wealth doesn't transfer amongst social classes, then the same people will own everything, and be able to effectively dictate culture in whatever manner that they want.

Again, Black Mirror shyt...

It sounds cool in theory, but I'm not really for it, because I know how corporatism pans out.

It'll get to the point where you can just generate your own shows.

Basically Interdimensional Cable from Rick and Morty

Like there isn't enough content to watch as it is. Between Netflix/Hulu/HBO Max/youtube etc etc etc you could watch videos for 10 lifetimes and still not be done :mjcry:
Yeah but there's a lot of trash in there. Imagine having the shyt personalized to you? Imagine being able to say "Hey Google I'd like to watch a sequel to Friday after next with Chris Tucker, Debo, and John Witherspoon in it" and it loads up for 30 minutes and gives you a 2 hour feature film?

What about "Hey Google give me an alternative cut to boyz in the hood where Ricky ran in zigzags instead"

Oh now it got your attention huh? Exactly.
